46 Sport and Fitness is the brain-child of Rich Childs. Rich has dedicated his life to helping others with their sport/lifestyle/fitness and health goals.
Rich’s extensive background in coaching has provided him with a unique perspective within the health and fitness industry. Rather than creating programs targeting exclusively the traditional parameters of anthropometric measurements (weight, height, body fat %), focus is aligned toward creating a sustainable and holistic plan which incorporates all different forms of health and fitness (strength, mobility, flexibility, stability, balance, posture, etc.).
Addressing these aforementioned health and fitness parameters, a detailed systematic plan is developed in collaboration with the client. Goal setting is based upon the process rather than the end result. In other words we will measure your performance improvement based upon these parameters which provides consistent and positive reinforcement thereby keeping you motivated each and every day!
It has been my experience that everyone, EVERYONE, enjoys some sort of extra-curricular activity. From playing recreational or competitive team sports, to hiking, nordic walking, swimming, running, cycling, triathlon, duathlon, spartan gaming, gardening, home renos and so on. Targeting your activity or activities of choice, your plan will incorporate exercises, conditioning methods and modalities which will enhance or increase your performance and ultimately your enjoyment of extra-curricular activities.
Rich spent the first 20 odd years of his life in the east end of Ottawa in a suburban community called Beacon Hill North. Growing up in BHN Rich’s love of sport and fitness was fostered with many lasting and wonderful memories.
After “crashing and burning” in his air force career he attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. It was an amazing experience and he was very fortunate to have attended such a notable school. Rich graduated in 1994 with a combined Bachelor of Arts (minor in Health) and Bachelor of Physical and Health Education.
Rich calls Chelsea QC home now and spends his time with his amazing physiotherapist wife Sandra and trying to keep up with his three beautiful children, Aidan, Caleb, and Isla and all the doggies and kitties!
