Strength & Conditioning

Sport specific strength and conditioning is offered at 46 Sport and Fitness in both online and on-location formats similar to our personal coaching programs and services.

As mentioned previously on our main Programs and Services page, sport specific strength & conditioning originated in the former Soviet Union, Romania and affiliated European eastern bloc countries during the height of the Cold War in the 1950’s and 60’s. While these eastern bloc athletes were training and competing at never before seen levels of monumental excellence and success, our western athletes were doing very little other than the status quo of showing up for practice and not much else. In fact western athletes considered bodybuilding to be the defacto standard (beginning in the late 60’s and early 70’s) for training which ignored virtually every other physiological characteristic of human performance.

By the 1980’s the western world had begun to appreciate the importance of sport specific training and programming. Aided by the breakup and fall of the eastern bloc alliance, the flow of training information, science, studies, programs, methods and plans from east to west narrowed the gap of theoretical and practical knowledge.

Western exercise physiologists, coaches, and trainers used this know-how to create equally impressive athletic training programs encompassing all aspects of human performance including but not limited to anatomical adaptation, hypertrophy, power, maximum strength, endurance, power-endurance, metabolic power, speed, agility, quickness, flexibility, mobility, cardio-vascular fitness, and so on.

Here at 46 Sport and Fitness we are ready and waiting to use these sport specific conditioning methods and principles to create that ‘killer’ program designed specifically for you.
